Second Skin takes an intimate look at three sets of computer gamers whose lives have been transformed by online virtual worlds. An emerging genre of computer software called Massively Multiplayer Online games, or MMOs, allows millions of users to interact simultaneously in virtual spaces. Of the 50 million players worldwide, 50 percent consider themselves addicted. From individuals struggling with addiction to couples who have fallen in love without meeting; from disabled players whose lives have been given new purpose to gold farmers, entrepreneurs and widows, Second Skin opens viewers’ eyes to a phenomenon that may permanently change the way human beings interact.

Hyperbole aside, this seems like it’d be fun to watch.

THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB

One moment Conrad Schwartz was a hungover hiker in the mountains of modern Poland, the next he was running for his life from an angry Teutonic knight.

At first Conrad just thought he’d stumbled across a mad hermit. But several days of ever stranger events convinced him that he had somehow been stranded in A.D 1231.

And that meant Conrad had to turn Medieval Poland into the most powerful country in the world. Otherwise the Mongols were destined to destroy it–in just ten years!

Dark denizens of the underworld are openly celebrated - nay WORSHIPED - by those poor fools. This devil preens just inside the main doors to the Rasmussen Library on the UAF campus. Presumably it feeds upon the night janitorial staff and any students foolish enough to attempt research in the restricted stacks after hours. Horrible to behold.  Interestingly it may not exist fully in our world. All my photos came out blurry.
