Lack of sunspots = global cooling?
Global warming cooling is nigh!
The sun has reached a milestone not seen for nearly 100 years: an entire month has passed without a single visible sunspot being noted.
The event is significant as many climatologists now believe solar magnetic activity – which determines the number of sunspots — is an influencing factor for climate on earth.
According to data from Mount Wilson Observatory, UCLA, more than an entire month has passed without a spot. The last time such an event occurred was June of 1913.
I find this idea fascinating. How ironic/silly would it be to spend trillions of dollars combating global warming climate change only to learn we’re entering an ice age and will soon be buried under glaciers? I read a superb book years ago co-written by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle titled Fallen Angels that details just such a future. Here’s a question for all the watermelons* out there: If we’re to fight global warming by shutting down industry and refusing to burn fossil fuels, shouldn’t we fight global cooling by doing the exact opposite?
