My favorite spaceships
While I was waiting up for Santa on Christmas Eve I came across an interesting discussion on some board about folks’ favorite TV or movie spaceships. I got to thinking about the subject and here are my choices:
1. Serenity - from the movie Serenity and the TV show Firefly.
The wooden table and chairs in this homey kitchen/dining room are what sells it for me. People live there!
2. Daedalus - Stargate SG-1 & Stargate Atlantis
She’s so ugly she’s gorgeous. The interiors look like something you might see on a modern warship.
3. Colonial 1 - Battlestar Galactica
The Colonial Government chartered an Intersun starliner, designated Colonial Heavy 798, for ferrying Secretary of Education Laura Roslin, her staff and members of the Colonial press to and from the decommissioning ceremonies for the battlestar Galactica.
The darn thing looks like a jumbo jet in space! I can imagine a similar vehicle someday ferrying passengers out to the asteroid belt or the moons of Jupiter. Dare I imagine traveling to..Uranus?
4. Nebulon-B frigate “Rebel Cruiser” - The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi
Holy crap, the Star Wars Wiki has LOTS of information about this ship. She’s ungainly as hell but is strangely appealing all the same.
The shape of the Nebulon-B, designed by Nilo Rodis-Jamero, was inspired by an outboard motor.
5. I’m spent and it’s after 2 in the morning. What’s your favorite spaceship?
StumbledUpon your blog. Firefly rules, and your “about me” section is classic. Frequent updates or not, you’re going on my recommended blogs list. Nice work here!
Thank you much.
