Wow This reminds me of the opening scene in Alien Nation when Sykes and his partner are ambushed in the street as some criminal type punches holes in their squad car with a super cannon. I need one!

On the Drift
I’m a big damn Firefly fan and late one night cruisin’ the intertubes I found a couple of awesome .mp3 available for download from some big damn musicians. I decided to buy On the Drift and just finished my first listen. The first track is named “The Ballad of Joss“, sung to the tune of “The Hero of Canton” (which is on the CD as well). “He wrote about spaceships, and shepards and whores! Stood up to the Networks and gave ‘em what for! Fox canceled his program but that was their loss. The creator of Firefly, the man they call Joss!” The title track’s instrumental version and Saffon’s Wedding Dance are well done. Leaf on the Wind is an ode to everyone’s favorite pilot, Wash. “I wandered the whole ‘verse I went where I’d please, I drift like a leaf on the wind. I spent a whole month trying to juggle geese, I drift like a leaf on the wind.”
My verdict? It’s got a kind of poetry to it, Sir.

One of the big time-wasters I enjoy is World of Warcraft. If you don’t know what that is check out the wikipedia page here. Folks have been saying lately how addictive the game is, but they are way off base. I figure a certain percentage of the population is simply unhappy with how their lives are progressing and prefers to spend their time pretending to be orcs or warlocks in a fantasy world (far from their every day problems). And a very few of them sometimes make horrific choices. A baby dies in Korea, and the story is portrayed as if the game caused such horrible behavior. That’s crap. People must prefer to believe a parent would never harm their child, that it must have been some outside influence (a game!) that caused them to behave so criminally. Nope, they’re simply worthless sons of bitches and need to be put down.
